[Beer Festival] The 188th Munich Beer Festival opens for 18 days
At 12 noon on Saturday, Munich kicked off the 188th Oktoberfest. The world's largest folk festival will last for 18 years this year!! It's about to start!!
This year's beer festival is two days longer than in previous years. Surprising! Unexpected! It has been extended from the original first weekend of October to October 3 (Tuesday). In 2022, the impact of the coronavirus also dampened the celebratory atmosphere at the time, with the number of tourists falling by about 5.7 million compared to previous years.
In the fall of 2023 , at 6 a.m. on a Saturday, dozens of people dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes were already waiting at the entrance of the Munich Oktoberfest . Thousands of Oktoberfest fans were already standing on the walls of the festival grounds, rushing into the festival hoping to get a good spot.
This year's festival was very lively and soon after the fence was opened, the venue was already packed. However, even if they rushed into the tent, the guests still had to wait for a while before they could drink the first bottle of beer. Only after the mayor knocked on the first barrel of beer could everyone drink the beer.
The price of a beer jug ranges from 12.60 euros to 14.90 euros, an average increase of around 6.1% compared to last year. For the first time, four drinking fountains were set up at this beer festival to provide free drinking water. In the beer tent, the average price per litre of drinking water was 10.04 euros.
Shortly after the beer festival opened, the medical station welcomed its first patient. Michel Belcijan, operations manager for Eicher Ambulance, said a young man was taken to the medical station for treatment at 9:09 a.m. Because the young man rushed into the venue as soon as the beer festival opened, and fell and was scratched because he was too excited. According to Belsiyan, approximately 450 nurses and 55 doctors will be on duty throughout the festival.
Friends who went to Munich to experience the Oktoberfest can say that they had a great time and felt at ease.
