Man and Nature: WALA, Weleda, and the Story of a German Family

What is the connection between the three major German skin care brands?

Dr. Hauschka, Weleda and WALA all emphasize the use of "holism" to maintain health. They are both well-known organic and natural brands in Germany. Germany's WALA is a high-end skin care product brand that uses raw materials grown by the original WALA factory and made in its own laboratory. In Germany, it is only sold in specialized organic stores or pharmacies. Wala is a brand that is only sold in pharmacies. It mainly provides homeopathic health products made entirely from natural ingredients. Weleda offers a series of products that are close to life, from children to the elderly, from daily necessities to homeopathic health products. They can be bought in most German open-shelf drugstores dm, and the prices are affordable.

Weleda

Founded in 1921, VLEIDA is based on the principles of homeopathy and uses the most natural ingredients to achieve the belief of "the beauty of harmony between nature and humans". One of the first female physicians, Dr. Ita Wegman, and philosopher and scientist Dr. Rudolph Steiner founded Weleda to promote anthroposophy. Anthroposophy is a holistic approach to medicine that uses natural formulas to stimulate the body's natural and diverse healing abilities. The two doctors worked with a research team to develop a formula that follows the human body's rhythm to awaken the skin's ability to repair itself. Later, Dr. Rudolf Hauschka, the future founder of WALA, and Dr. Wegman studied anthroposophy and also became students of Dr. Steiner. Weileda has the BDIH natural cosmetics certification and the UEBT certification for ethical sourcing, indicating the brand's emphasis on nature.

WALA

In the 1920s, Dr. Rudolf Hauschka and Dr. Ita Wegmann's anthroposophical research covered the effects of natural raw materials such as plants, minerals and metals on the human body. In 1924, Dr. Hauska was deeply influenced by his teacher Dr. Steiner's words "The rhythm of nature is the medium of life" and focused on studying rhythm. He studied the use of natural substances as raw materials, the application of the polar rhythms of cold and heat, movement and stillness, light and darkness, and the special biotechnology cultivation process. In 1929 he successfully developed a rhythmic manufacturing process in which the medicinal plants used in the extraction were treated with water without the addition of alcohol. When Dr. Hauska founded WALA in 1935 , he used the rhythmic manufacturing process as the company's principle. WALA means " Wärme - Asche " (warm embers) and " Licht - Asche " (light embers). WALA applies the concepts of anthroposophy to produce health care and medical products.

Dr. Hauschka

To date, WALA has WALA health products and German family skin care products, but WALA originally only sold medical and health products. Later, Dr. Hauska wanted to launch a line of skin care products that complied with WALA principles . He contacted Elisabeth Sigmund, an anthroposophical aesthetician. After exchanging emails, Dr. Hauska invited Ms. Sigmund to WALA and developed a holistic skin care series together. After a period of aesthetic and medical testing, the German brand was launched on the market in 1967. The product uses natural ingredients and medicinal herbs that promote skin function and has BDIH natural cosmetics certification. The characteristic of German family is that the brand's cosmetics also contain skin care ingredients and beautify both the inside and outside.
