For over 90 years, Em‑eukal has been winning people over with its unique secret recipe.

Without love, Em‑eukal may not exist. Because of his beloved Marianne Luise Wilhelmine Hornschuch, pharmacist and medical consultant Dr. Carl August Otto Soldan, born in Munich in 1871 , moved to Fürth in Middle Franconia. In 1899 , he opened his own pharmaceutical pharmacy in nearby Nuremberg and founded the family business Dr. C. Soldam.

Dr. Carl Soldan was energetic, passionate, creative, and known for his wit - always impressing his wife and clients with his creative and visionary spirit. The children loved hanging on his every word, listening to his stories, and of course, they were especially happy to be given homemade candy. At Dr. Carl Soldan's Medical Pharmacy there's always something new to try. It is his wish to always contribute to the welfare of people. To this end, he developed one new product after another: breast tea, plantain juice, juniper extract, antifreeze soap, cod liver oil - and various candy recipes.

Of course, the neighborhood kids were particularly interested in the candy. Every week they would come and ask if there was anything to eat. Among them was little Gustave, a good boy, always a little pale around his nose because he often had colds. For him, Dr. Carl Soldan was the first candy made with menthol and eucalyptus in the early 20th century . And for the ten-year-old boy at the time, although it was a bit spicy, it tasted very fragrant and felt good.

This is how the Em‑eukal era began in 1923 and to this day this unique secret formula supports many people during the cold season as Em‑eukal Classic. And here’s another secret: the first Em‑eukal candy recipe also gave the brand its name. Em stands for menthol and eukal stands for eucalyptus. The brand was officially registered in 1925 .

Today, the wide range of varieties convinces: from the tangy Em‑eukal Classic to the herbaceous and refreshing Em‑eukal Sage, to the refreshing Em‑eukal Lemon and the fruity Em‑eukal Ginger Orange, and from sugar-sweetened to sugar-free varieties.
