Active ingredient:
Aqueous extract of fermented oak mistletoe.

What is Iscador and what is it used for?
Iscador is an anthroposophic medicine for the long-term treatment of tumor diseases.

Areas of application
According to the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, Iscador M/P/Qu is used to stimulate the formative and integrative forces in adults to resolve and re-integrate autonomous growth processes, such as:

• malignant tumor diseases, also with accompanying diseases of the blood-forming organs;
• benign tumor diseases;
• to prevent tumor recurrence after surgery;
• in defined precancerous stages of cancer (pre-cancerous lesions).

How should Iscador be used?
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Method of administration:
Subcutaneous injections should be given as close as possible to the tumor or metastases; otherwise, the injection site should be changed (e.g., abdomen, upper arm, or thigh). Inflamed skin areas or radiation fields must always be avoided. The technique of subcutaneous injection must be strictly adhered to.

For safety reasons, it is recommended not to mix Iscador with other medicines in the same syringe.

After cleaning the injection site (e.g., by rubbing with 70% alcohol), pinch a small fold of skin and insert the needle at an angle. Gently pull back the syringe plunger. If blood appears, a blood vessel has been punctured.

In this case, repeat the injection at a different site. If no blood appears, inject slowly, then pull out the needle and press lightly on the injection site with a cotton swab.

It is strongly recommended to learn the injection technique from experienced personnel.

Iscador ampoules should be used immediately after opening. Opened ampoules must not be stored and used again, as the sterility of the injection solution is no longer guaranteed.

Dosage:
The dosage must be determined individually. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the following standard dosage applies.

Introduction phase
To avoid overreactions, it is advisable to start treatment with Iscador M/Qu 5 mg special series with gradually increasing doses of Iscador M/Qu series 0.

Even if treatment has already been started with other mistletoe preparations, treatment with Iscador M/Qu 5 mg special must be restarted with the corresponding series 0.

Iscador M/Qu series 0 is injected subcutaneously 2 to 3 times a week, 1 ml each, with the dose gradually increasing according to the series composition.

If the initial dose (series 0) is well tolerated, the treatment can be switched to Iscador M/Qu 5 mg special.

The optimal dose or strength must be determined individually. According to current knowledge, the following adverse reactions, which may occur individually or in combination, should be considered:

a) Changes in subjective well-being: Fatigue, chills, general malaise, headache, and transient dizziness may occur on the day of the injection. These are not signs of intolerance but indicate that the dose is effective, but may already be too high.

If these symptoms do not subside by the next day or exceed a tolerable level, the dose or strength should be reduced. The dose is in the optimal range if the patient's

general well-being (appetite and weight gain, sleep, normalization of temperature perception and performance) and psychological well-being (mood improvement, increased zest for life and initiative) as well as pain relief improve.

b) Temperature reaction: A temperature reaction is defined as an increase in body temperature above the average in the hours after the injection or the restoration of a physiological day-night temperature difference of at least 0.5 °C or an increase in the average temperature level during treatment.

In contrast, in cases of tumor fever, the aim of treatment is to normalize and regulate the core body temperature with lower doses.

c) Immunological reaction: For example, an increase in leukocytes (white blood cells). d

) Local inflammatory reaction: At the injection site, up to a maximum diameter of 5 cm.

Maintenance phase:
The maintenance phase is entered by injecting Iscador M/Qu 5 mg special. If individual reactions (e.g., local overreaction) or the course of the disease (e.g., accompanying immunological checks indicating the need for dose increase or decrease) require it, partial doses (one ampoule) or up to two ampoules can be injected.

The optimal individual dose or strength is then determined according to this method and continued. To avoid habituation, regular administration is recommended.

• Adjust injection intervals, e.g., inject on days 1, 2, and 5 of the week.
• Insert breaks from the second year of treatment, e.g., 1 to 2 weeks after 4 weeks of treatment.
   

The dosage should be reviewed every 3 to 6 months based on the patient's reaction (so) and tumor behavior.

Dosage for patients with renal impairment:There is currently insufficient data to provide specific dosing recommendations for patients with renal impairment. General experience suggests that no dose adjustment is necessary.

Duration of use:
The duration of use is decided by the attending physician.

The course of treatment is in principle not limited and is determined by the doctor based on the patient's risk of recurrence, individual condition, and examination results.

The treatment usually lasts several years, with the breaks between treatments gradually extended.

If you take too much Iscador
, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

If you forget to take Iscador
, never take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Simply take the normal dose at the next scheduled time.

Composition of Iscador M c. Cu/Qu c. Cu
: The active ingredient is: aqueous extract of fermented white mistletoe (Viscum album ssp. album, apple tree mistletoe // oak mistletoe)

The milligram amount in the drug name indicates the amount of fresh plant material used to produce one ampoule of Iscador M/Qu 5 mg special. Iscador M/Qu 5 mg special contains 5 mg of fresh mistletoe extract.

The other ingredients are: sodium chloride, water for injection.
