Ferrum Hausmann contains the active ingredient iron (III) hydroxide.

Iron is an important component of the blood pigment hemoglobin, which we need to transport oxygen throughout the body via red blood cells. As a result, iron deficiency often leads to what is known as anemia, symptoms of which include paleness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating and loss of appetite.

Since our bodies cannot produce iron on their own, we rely on external sources. Our need for iron increases, especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and during growth

Ferrum Hausmann® solution is used to treat iron deficiency. It can also be given to premature babies and infants.

Dosage information for infants, toddlers, and children refers to 3 mg iron per kg body weight per day.

Premature infants: 1 to 2 drops per kg of body weight per day (2.5 to 5 mg iron).

Infants and young children: 10 to 20 drops (25 to 50 mg iron) daily, divided into 1-2 single doses.

Children: 20 to 40 drops (50 to 100 mg iron) per day, divided into 1-2 doses.

Adults: 40 to 80 drops (100 to 200 mg iron) per day, divided into 1-2 single doses.

Ferrum Hausmann® solution should be taken with or immediately after a meal.

Duration of treatment depends on normalization of iron metabolism (decreased intake, increased requirement, pathological iron loss) and red blood cell count. After the red blood cell count returns to normal, you should continue to take iron supplements for 1 to 2 months to replenish your iron stores.

Ferrum Hausmann® solutions mix easily with baby food, fruit and vegetable juices. There are no reactions to food components that could reduce the absorption of the iron complex. The food may turn slightly brown, but this will not affect its taste.

Do not use this medicine after the expiration date which is stated on the package or packaging. The expiry date is the last day of the specified month.

The active ingredient is iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex.

1 ml of solution (approximately 20 drops) contains: 172.4-200 mg iron (III) hydroxide polymaltose complex, standardized to 50 mg iron.

The other ingredients are: 2.0 mg sodium methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph. European), 0.22 mg sodium propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph. European), 50 mg sucrose (total equivalent to 0.1 BE) as well as purified water, flavoring and sodium hydroxide.
