Treatment of cold sore infections

Aciclostad® Cold Sore Ointment is used to relieve the pain and itching associated with cold sores. Cold sores manifest as painful blisters on the lips when the immune system is weakened. This medication relieves the typical symptoms of tightness, itching, and burning on the lips and inhibits further spread of the virus. Apply the ointment to the affected area five times daily, four hours apart.

How ACICLOSTAD® treats cold sores

Aciclovard® relieves symptoms of cold sores, such as tightness, itching, and burning, and effectively promotes healing. Its active ingredient is acyclovir, an antiviral drug that inhibits viral replication. Acyclovir is initially inactive in the medication. It becomes active only when it enters a body cell infected with the herpes virus. Once transformed, antiviral substances in the viral genetic material prevent further spread. Treatment with Aciclovard® relieves pain, resolves the sore, and initiates healing.

What causes cold sores?

Although the so-called herpes simplex virus never becomes active in many people, nearly everyone has been infected with it at some point. Once infected, the virus remains in the body for life. Some people experience symptoms such as tightness, itching, and pain at irregular intervals. When cold sores occur on the lips, the oral mucosa is usually infected with the herpes simplex virus type 1. This condition typically occurs during periods of weakness. Infections, colds, strenuous physical activity, and even psychological stress often precede the appearance of cold sores.

Instructions for use:

It is recommended to apply Aciclost® with a cotton swab, applying a thin layer to the affected area. It is also recommended to treat adjacent areas with visible signs of herpes, such as blisters, swelling, and redness.
