Darmflora plus select contains 8 selected lactic acid bacteria strains, 48 billion highly concentrated lactic acid bacteria per day, and B vitamins, which strengthen mucous membranes, such as the intestinal mucosa1. The lactic acid bacteria, also called intestinal bacteria or microorganisms, are particularly resistant to stomach acid and bile acid.
Darmflora plus select from Dr. Wolz is a preparation developed specifically for the intestinal mucosa1. The selected bacterial strains are naturally present in different sections of the human intestine. The B vitamins it contains stimulate the mucous membranes1 and support the immune system2. The capsules can also be used during and after antibiotic treatment.
The intestine and the intestinal flora
Up to nine meters long, with a surface area equivalent to a tennis court: the intestine is our largest organ. Despite its size, it is equally important for our health. Our intestine is home to trillions of microorganisms that help it supply our body with vital nutrients. It is surrounded by a complex network of nerves: every nerve cell in the intestine resembles those in our brain and spinal cord. Yet the intestine is, as is well known, underestimated.
Lactic acid bacteria are among the most important natural residents of the intestinal microbiome (intestinal flora). Due to their strong formation of lactic acid and acetic acid, they create an acidic environment. Acidified dairy products such as yoghurt, buttermilk and kefir, as well as sauerkraut, contain many of these live lactic acid bacteria. But naturally occurring lactic acid bacteria in food are really sensitive. They don't like antibiotics, heat or moisture, and the number of bacteria drops significantly during storage. In the body, lactic acid bacteria are added to stomach acid and bile acid. As a result, only about 10 to 40 percent of them reach the large intestine alive.
Thanks to the enteric-coated capsules of Darmflora plus select, the lactic acid bacteria reach the intestine directly, and most importantly, it is protected from stomach acid. The capsules are also temperature-stable and do not require cooling, making them ideal for use when traveling.

Darmflora plus select ingredients
One capsule contains 8 selected bacterial strains at a concentration of 12 billion lactic acid bacteria (48 billion (= 48 x 109) per day) and vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, biotin, and folic acid.
According to the multi-species concept of Dr. Wolz, the preparation contains eight different bacterial strains that, according to the current state of research, represent a sensible combination and are naturally present in different parts of the small and large intestine. We only use registered, genetically characterized lactic acid bacteria strains that are considered safe.
The 8 existing lactic acid bacteria are:
- Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Lactobacillus casei
- Lactobacillus plantarum
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus
- Bifidobacterium bifidum
- Bifidobacterium breve
- Bifidobacterium lactis
- Streptococcus thermophilus
Four capsules contain 48 billion lactic acid bacteria as well as 1.1 mg vitamin B1, 1.4 mg vitamin B2, 1.4 mg vitamin B6, 2.5 µg vitamin B12, 50 µg biotin and 200 µg folic acid.
The capsules are also vegetarian and gluten-free, and free from gelatin, milk protein, lactose, fructose, histamine, and colorings.
Darmflora plus select contains no histamine-forming strains or the lactic acid bacteria contained in it do not contain any genes that promote histamine formation.
Consumption recommendations:
Take 4 capsules daily with liquid with meals. For long-term use, the daily dose can be reduced to 2 capsules. Children between 2 and 10 years of age take only half the amount. If necessary, the capsules can be opened by pulling them apart. During antibiotic treatment, Darmflora plus select should be taken as far apart as possible from the antibiotic.
