A moment of inattention is all it takes: muscle strains, bruises or sprains can happen quickly during sports. Blunt injuries hinder the circulation of blood and tissue fluid under the skin and can sometimes be very painful. Swelling (edema) or bruising (hematoma) can also occur. Injuries that do not involve joints are usually harmless and generally heal quickly without complications.

Weleda Arnica Ointment 30% is suitable for the treatment of various blunt injuries such as sprains, strains, contusions, bruises or hematomas. Especially for stubborn hematomas, the ointment helps to restore the natural circulation of blood and tissue fluid and thus promotes tissue regeneration. This helps to naturally extend the healing process.

Arnica Ointment 30% is available in 25g or 70g sizes.

First aid for sprains, abrasions and strains

In the case of a blunt injury, such as a sprained ankle or a fall, activity should be stopped immediately. The injured area should be elevated, preferably above heart level, to reduce swelling and pain. Elevating the affected limb can reduce blood flow and allow tissue fluid to drain more effectively from the injured area. Sprains and strains heal faster after cooling with a cold compress, ice pack or even cold water. This not only relieves pain but also slows down the development of swelling. To prevent frostbite, a cloth should be placed between the ice pack or cold compress and the skin during cooling. In addition, the cooling time should not exceed 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute break. If necessary, cooling can be repeated. A light compression bandage can also help reduce swelling and bruising.

Arnica

Its botanical name is Arnica montana. This tenacious plant mainly grows in the mountains of Central and Southern Europe. Its healing properties have been known for centuries. More than 150 ingredients have been identified in this Asteraceae plant. Arnica can promote blood circulation, stimulate metabolism, and thus reduce swelling faster. With its regenerative properties, Arnica has a structural restorative effect, helping to break down necrotic cells and restore tissue order, thereby further promoting healing. Weleda uses Arnica in its products to help the body recover from blunt injuries (such as bruises, contusions, sprains and abrasions) by restoring disturbed metabolic and regenerative processes and supporting skin and tissue function.

Application

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose for adults and children aged 6 and over is: apply Arnica Ointment 30% to the affected area 3-5 times a day.

Do not apply the ointment to open wounds. Wash hands thoroughly with soap after use.

Treatment will continue until symptoms subside, and the course of treatment should end after two weeks. If symptoms do not improve within 2-5 days, a doctor should be consulted.
