What is Iscador and what is it used for
Iscador is an anthroposophical medicine used for the prolonged treatment of oncological diseases.

Application Areas
Based on the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature, Iscador M/P/Qu is used to stimulate the formative and integrative forces of the adult in order to dissolve and reintegrate separate growth processes, e.g.

• In malignant neoplastic diseases, there are also diseases of the hematopoietic organs;
• in benign neoplastic diseases;
• Prevent tumor recurrence after surgery;
• In established cancer precursors (precancerous lesions).

How to use Iscardo
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist tells you to.

If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Application Type
Subcutaneous injections should be given near the tumor or metastasis if possible, otherwise in areas of the body that are constantly changing (e.g., abdominal skin, upper arm, or thigh). However, inflamed skin areas or irradiated areas should be avoided in all cases. Subcutaneous injection technique should be strictly used.

As a precaution, it is recommended not to mix Iscador with other medications in the same syringe.

After cleaning the puncture site (e.g., wiping with 70% alcohol), fold the skin and insert the injection needle at an angle. Slightly withdraw the syringe plunger. If blood is present, it means that a blood vessel has been impacted.

In this case, the injection is repeated at a different site. If no blood appears, inject slowly, then withdraw the needle and gently press the puncture site with a cotton swab.

In any case, it is recommended to learn injection techniques from someone with experience.

Iscador ampoules should be used immediately after opening. Opened ampoules must not be stored and used later, as the sterility of the injection solution can no longer be guaranteed.

dose
Dosage is essentially personal. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the following usual dosages apply.

Initial stage
In order to avoid an overreaction, it is recommended to start Iscador M/P/Qu Series 0 gradually when starting treatment with Iscador M/P/Qu. Even if another mistletoe preparation has been used, when starting treatment with Iscador M/P/Qu, the corresponding series 0 must be restarted.

Depending on the composition of the series, 1 ml is injected subcutaneously 2 to 3 times a week to increase the intensity.
If series 0 is well tolerated, series I or II can be added until the patient's individual response dose is reached.

The optimal strength or dose must be determined individually. According to the current state of knowledge, the following reactions should be observed, which may occur alone or in combination:

a) Changes in subjective well-being: On the day of injection, any fatigue, shivering, malaise, headache, and transient dizziness are not signs of intolerance but rather indicate efficacy and possibly overdose. If these symptoms do not disappear by the next day or exceed tolerable levels, the intensity or dosage should be reduced.
General well-being (increased appetite and weight, normalization of sleep, warmth and performance) and psychological health (happy mood, increased courage and initiative) as well as pain reduction indicate that the dosage is in the optimal range.

b) Temperature response: A temperature response in which the body temperature rises above the average level a few hours after injection, with a recovery of at least 0.5°C in the physiological difference between morning and evening, or an increase in the average body temperature level during the injection treatment.

On the other hand, in the case of tumor fever, normalization and rhythmicity of core temperature are targeted at low intensities.

c) Immune response: e.g. B. Increase in leukocytes (white blood cells).

d) Local inflammatory reaction: at the injection site with a maximum diameter of 5 cm.

Maintenance Phase
Treatment is continued at the optimal individual intensity or dose determined in this manner. Continue treatment using the response dose that represents the highest strength in the series or using the appropriate variety packaging (ampoules packaged in one strength).

To avoid habituation effects, rhythmic use is recommended:

• Alternating with lower intensities or doses in an ascending and possibly descending dose series
• The rhythm of the injection interval, such as injections on the 1st, 2nd and 5th day of each week
• Insert pauses, for example B. About 4 weeks of treatment followed by 1 to 2 weeks of rest; if treatment is longer, the rest period can be extended from the third year of treatment.

If treatment interruption lasts 4 weeks or longer, the initial response may be increased when treatment is restarted. Therefore, it is recommended to restart with the next lower intensity or series, for example: treat with Iscador Series II before resting, start with Series I packs after resting, and then continue with Series II.
Worse - free days, it may make sense to inject 1 ml every day without interruption.

The dose should be reviewed at 3- to 6-month intervals depending on the patient's response (see above) and tumor manifestations.
Dosage in impaired renal function.

In the setting of impaired renal function, there are insufficient data for specific dosage recommendations. General experience to date suggests that no dosage adjustment is necessary.

Application duration
The attending physician determines the duration of application.

In principle, there is no limit on the period of use. It is determined by the physician and depends on the respective risk of recurrence and the patient's individual circumstances or findings. It should be several years, usually with added breaks.

If you use more Iscador than you should
If you use more Iscador than you should, talk with your doctor or pharmacist.

If you forget to use Iscador
Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose, but continue with your regular dose at the next scheduled time.

What is contained in Iscador M/P/Qu:
The active substances are: fermented aqueous extract of Viscum album ssp. Album/ssp. Austria/ssp. Photo album (Apple Tree Mistletoe / Pine Tree Mistletoe / Oak Tree Mistletoe).

The strength in mg in the drug name indicates the amount of fresh plant material used to produce one ampoule of Iscador M/P/Qu. For example: "Iscador M 1 mg" contains 1 mg of extract of fresh apple tree mistletoe.

Other ingredients are: sodium chloride, water for injection.
